OUR MISSION

7 Magic Flowers is based on a Montessori community program that is being successfully used with children around the world. We are inspired by the approach of Dr. Maria Montessori, who developed her educational philosophy as a result of her observations of the way children naturally learn. She described the ages between 3 and 6 as a particularly “sensitive time” during which young children are especially attuned to acquiring knowledge from their surroundings. Dr. Montessori emphasized a “prepared environment” that helps children expand upon their extraordinarily high level of intellectual and social ability at young ages.

Our “prepared environment” follows these core values:
  • Confidence, to promote the growth of self-image and satisfaction about themselves.
  • Responsibility, to promote feelings of enthusiasm and responsibility.
  • Respect, to create awareness of their own feelings and sensitivity to the feelings of others.
  • Creativity, to encourage the natural desire, ability, self-discipline, and independence inherent in learning.
  • Health, to develop the right balance between healthy eating and good personal hygiene.
  • Cooperation, to encourage appropriate self-expression and social skills when working in a group.
  • Joy, to gain a positive attitude towards life on the path of learning that will be rewarding throughout their lives.
 
When children are immersed in our bilingual environment, they will develop strong language skills in both English and Mandarin, as well as the ability to navigate cross-cultural values and competencies. We believe all children who learn in more than one language demonstrate cognitive advantages that also contribute to positive cross-cultural attitudes and behaviors.
